Mount Druid Wedding Photography
Ever wonder how I got a chance to become a wedding photographer at Mount Druid? Kevin and Danielle booked me as their newborn daughters Bonie photographer. After the newborn photoshoot I've being asked to photograph their wedding. It was a real honor for me! It was my first ever wedding at Mount Druid. I already knew it will be my one of favourite wedding venues.
Mount Druid - alternative wedding venue for perfect wedding photos
Where Vintage Chic and the Beauty of Nature meet. Mount Druid is a unique venue in the middle of Ireland. It is situated in the picturesque village of Castletown Geoghegan, County Westmeath. Mount Druid is an exquisite private wedding venue set in a parkland of 100 acres.
Marriage ceremonies are held at Tin Chapel. Why Tin? It is made from tin and it is really quirky red colour! There is also an option to hold ceremonies outside at the Wall Garden.
After your ceremony, enjoy a leisurely stroll across the hill to the boathouse. If the weather is kind, guests take their drinks outside by the lake. They capture those photographic moments on the deck by the summer house.
Check the Atrium. It is a stunning light filled space, resplendent with a Jacobean library and an abundance of soft furnishings in which to relax before or after your meal. A grand piano sits in the corner of the room inviting your guests to play.
The Barn in Mount Druid can seat up to 200 guests. It has to be one of the coolest, most unique wedding reception venues we’ve seen yet. It is decked out in antique and restored furniture. You can find arts and crafts wallpaper and exposed brick there. It’s the perfect canvas for a vintage, retro-chic aesthetic.
Staying at Mount Druid
Probably one of the coolest things about Mount Druid is the accommodation. On-site are luxury yurts, gorgeously decorated tin huts, shepherd’s huts. Also brightly coloured caravans and cosy little cottages. The accommodation here is perfectly comfortable. It is inviting and fun.
There are 20 Yurts available on the grounds. Each sleeping between 2 and 4 people. Also Yurts offer a different kind of living experience. They are a great opportunity for you and your guests to completely immerse yourselves in the occasion.
Other glamping style accommodation includes the cosy Shepherds Huts, the Tin Huts and the more recently added Tigíns.
Mount Druid staff lit wood Burning stoves in all of the accommodations each evening. This means you will always return to a snug and cosy room when it’s eventually time to turn in. I would definitely take that kind of personal turn-down service over a chocolate-on-the-pillow any day of the week!
